FUNCTIONAL ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT IN GROWING PATIENTS /DR. NATALYA BORCHENKO/

Functional orthodontics in adults has already become a golden standard of treatment. But where do the functional problems start? Can we fix them in mixed dentition, how to manage them and what is the proper approach to obtain best growth possible?
• functional problems in growing patients: development, symptoms, difference from adults. Diagnosis.
• stable condylar position: how to obtain it and maintain during further orthodontic treatment.
• treatment planning and realization: airway management, growth and compensation.

EXTRACTION/NON EXTRACTION ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT- THE RATIONALE  /DR. ANDRII DMYTRENKO/

This course was created in order to resist so called contemporary instagram orthodontics which promotes all possible ways to avoid extractions of teeth. Unfortunately, after 100-plus years, the debate continues regarding the appropriateness of extractions in orthodontic therapy, and this topic draws sharply divided opinions. To large degree, it appears one is either on the side of extractions, or completely against them — with no middle ground.
There are certain limitations where non extraction/extraction treatments should be avoided and may produce undesirable effects. Therefore some clear indications and contraindications for extractions must be set as well as pros and cons for the space gaining techniques in both adults and growing patients. The aim of the course is to discuss both sides of the century topics. Space gaining and extraction space closing techniques will be discussed. Step by step management of premolar extraction cases will be outlined. Long term stability evaluation and facial esthetic principles according to Rickets E-line will be talked over.
