COURSE TOPICS

The extraction/non-extraction myth

Despite the current trend of providing non-extraction treatments to almost all patients extractions have still a place in modern orthodontics. Existing claims about the downsides of extractions will be discussed by showcasing interesting clinical patients.

Less is more – simple approaches for complex situations

Since all kinds of skeletal anchorage devices have been introduced in orthodontics traditional concepts and biomechanics have become less and less attractive. However, given the simplicity and efficiency of old-school approaches even the most high-tech orthodontists should not forget how to implement basic orthodontic biomechanics.

Missing teeth in the aesthetic zone

Missing teeth due to agenesis, trauma or malformation can lead to complex clinical challenges and should be planned and resolved by close collaboration of an interdisciplinary task force, if achieving the best possible individual aesthetic and functional result is the main treatment objective
